Rugged XSR Family Supports Integrators with NIAP-Certified Dual Layer Encryption for Data at Rest

In today’s ever-evolving landscape of warfare, the ability to maintain a competitive edge ahead of the enemy is becoming increasingly complex. To ensure full-spectrum dominance, total situational awareness, and information superiority across all domains have become essential, whether at sea, in the air, on land, in space, or in cyberspace. With next-generation command and control defense initiatives such as JADC2, coupled with the consistent and exponential growth of computing power over time, this strategic goal is rapidly becoming a reality.

These initiatives are made possible through the utilization of resilient, cutting-edge computing technologies that are embedded into specialized military hardware. Designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, these small-form-factor computers perform complex processes, capture raw sensor data, distribute critical real-time information to allied forces, and much more.

They have become crucial components of a successful mission in the modern age. As a result, this increased reliance on technology increases the possibility of the enemy attempting to access, process, deny, exploit, corrupt, or destroy the critical mission data in question. With new vulnerabilities and potential threats to this data, systems integrators must pursue every possible opportunity to ensure the appropriate protocols, practices, and standardization are in place to protect these digital assets.

The Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) program is a cornerstone of the National Security Agency’s (NSA) strategy to deliver secure, commercial cybersecurity solutions. This program enables organizations to quickly develop and deploy state-of-the-art cybersecurity capabilities using a variety of commercial off-the-shelf products and technologies, intended to protect classified national security system information.

1. NIAP-Approved Dual Layer Certified Encryption – Hardware and Software – for Data at Rest

csfc & ccc Galleon Products Comparison

Last year, Galleon’s XSR Family of Rugged Computing Products was submitted to, and certified by, The National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) for its hardware and software dual-layer encryption for data at rest. NIAP, which oversees evaluations of commercial IT products for use in national security systems, is responsible for the U.S. implementation of the Common Criteria.

The XSR’s dual layer certified encryption follows the NSA’s Rule of Two, a data security principle outlined in the Commercial Solutions for Classified Program (CSfC) that is designed to keep confidential information safe from unauthorized access. This stringent protocol mandates two distinct layers of cryptography to ensure maximum protection, with each layer containing distinct encryption algorithms and keys. Galleon’s NIAP certification applies in all Common Criteria partner countries
